Our perfumes containing Labdanum

Labdanum is  obtained from the shrubs Cistus ladanifer (western Mediterranean) and Cistus creticus (eastern Mediterranean), species of rockrose.

Several fragrant oils are made from Rock Rose, Cistus ladanifer. Labdanum Absolute is solvent extracted from the resin.

An easy way to remember the difference: Labdanum is from resin, and Cistus is from vegetation.

Labdanum has a warm sweet, musky, amber, resinous, balsamic scent. It is used as a fixative.

It has a long history of use in herbal medicine and as a perfume ingredient.
