This perfume has been composed in memory of the famous aromatic resins cultivated in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan. Resins that possess a powerful and inebriating fragrance characterized by the strong animalic tone of the mountain farm barns.
Never in my travels did I ever encounter such a mighty aroma able to blend so perfectly with the feelings of untamed wildness and of sophisticate harmony.
With a base of Civet and Castoreum and with the resinous and flowery essences available to perfumers I attempted to revive a whole epoch.

PIERRE LESCUN –
Tcharas est un parfum hautement exotique. Herbeuse, pointue, acidulée, comportant des notes gourmandes étonnamment originales qui l’arrondissent, la fragrance, déroutante mais très séduisante, est extrêmement originale. En arrière-fond, on sent un sous-bassement résineux, indescriptible, se mariant en tous les cas à merveille avec la note végétale (ni florale, ni animale) du parfum. C’est surprenant ; et c’est irrésistible. J’ai rarement senti senteur aussi captivante.
Dans le même registre olfactif, Samouraï, version quelque peu différente du même parfum, propose une note moins acide, moins pointue que la précédente. Al la fois résineuse et végétale, acidulée, subtilement anisée, réglissée, légèrement cacaotée, subliminalement caféinée, presque gourmande, la fragrance est tout aussi déconcertante et confondante. Ces deux parfum audacieux, très élégants, sont à mon sens faits pour des êtres aspirant à vivre dans la créativité permanente et en dehors des normes.
HENRI LASSEUBE –
Tcharas est un parfum hautement exotique, faisant songer (avec un peu d’imagination) à ce que l’on pourrait sentir sur des alpages dans les hauts contreforts himalayens. C’est une fragrance très originale, pointue, acidulée, qui déroute l’odorat mais le charme.
Tcharas fait partie pour moi du même registre “afghano-pakistanais” que Taliban Flower et Samouraï (parfums dont j’ai reçu de Dominique un échantillon mais qu’il ne commercialise pas encore). Par rapport à Tcharas, Taliban Flower est plus herbeux, sec et austère. Quant à Samouraï, c’est un parfum vraiment surprenant, assez irrésistible : sa note résineuse, typée, acidulée, presque fruitée fait penser à l’aneth, à l’anis, à la réglisse. Légèrement sucrée, presque gourmande, cette fragrance est vraiment très originale.

Perhaps it is unusual for a woman to wear and love this fragrance. So be it. On me, the floral aspect is amplified, with a strong smell of honey and incense, beneath. Late drydown is characterized by sweet dry woods, like cut lumber on a hot day, surrounded by flowers. It has been a real joy discovering Profumo fragrances.

One of my favorites. I have just received a generous sample of this scent and I love it. It’s a bold and powerful scent, leathery, woody and a bit spicey and animal. It smells mysterious and indeed has the Tcharas smell present. Great one.

This review has been a long time coming. I have marveled at the many extraordinary perfumes created by Profumo for many years, but this is one of my absolute favorites.
The composition of incense, cannabis, castoreum, civet and neroli notes are perfect for sophisticated evenings that require panache’.
The initial impact is a rather bold statement, but the drydown is mesmerizing and seductive. It is long lasting for a genuinely natural fragrance and wears well under my pleated shirt, black tie and tux. I recommend it highly.
