Humility

Some people who are trying their hand at making perfumes think that aromatherapy essences are not interesting enough for making fragrances.
One should not underestimate the most common and simple essences of Aromatherapy for using them in Perfumery.
Once I mixed accidentally peppermint with Jasmine abs. and the blend was surprisingly interesting. You may try also Bergamot Eucalyptus and Jasmin for a true Calabrian scent. In fact, Eucalyptus blend very well with citruses.
The same is true for Rosemary.
I sometimes put a little lavender in some blends not so much for the scent but for the humility. Such a humble and benevolent plant whose benefits are well known to all those who practice aromatherapy.
A perfumer needs humility to reach true inspiration.
No scent from nature is too low to be used to make a good perfume.

I agree with you. Regardless of the essence, I too believe that every one of them has a place in this vast world of fragrances. Not one extraction should be excluded from use. I believe I understand what you mean by humility also. It is when we predispose ourselves to feelings of complacence and grandeur when we make our biggest mistakes. I think no Oil or absolute should be ignored or overlooked.

new compositions are moments in time….the selection is of a transitional or fleeting feeling that one is trying to capture in a transient whiff of a thoughtful selection. the Building blocks to this are added as time elapses and the analytical concepts take shape with evaluation to create something quite unique indelible and is continued until a satisfactory conclusion is reached.

One of my favorite and simplest concoctions I call “summer” because it reminds me of the fresh smell of water coming out of a garden hose! It is equial parts Myrrh and Grapefruit. It is really quite compelling for its simplicity and evocative power.

That particular moment to be able to say that is it … the search for perfection….

Complexity and Simplicity two contrasts yet both powerful in its own right….. the ability to stop after a few essences that have shaped into something unique or the ability to stop after creatng a symphony of aromas …. that seems to be true mastery.

Much happens in our lifes in a small span of time.
At the end of our time, we often remain empty handed, having dedicated all of it to doing instead of giving, to saying instead of listening, to showing instead of looking.
This world is not worth an Italian Lira.
By trying to solve the problems without fully understanding the situation, one more easily becomes part of the problem than part of the solution.
