Jungle Pepper or Timur Pepper
The official description is as follows:
“Colloquially known as Sichuan Pepper, the fruit of the Jungle pepper is a plant belonging to the Rutaceae family found in China and Nepal. The oil from its fruit does not resemble any other pepper with the smell, it is a separate, very unique entity. Spicy and citrus, extremely diffusive and very invigorating. It can give vigor to many compositions.”
However, what immediately struck me about this essence and made me so enthusiastic was its full-fledged smell of Guava, a fruit I love.
The smells of fruits are rare in Natural Perfumery. We have the citruses, of course, but beyond that, we are very much lacking them.
This is what makes it so precious for composing perfumes.
