Curcuma essential oil, commonly known as turmeric essential oil, is extracted through steam distillation from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa, a plant native to Southeast Asia. Renowned for its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, this essential oil supports joint health, enhances skin appearance, and bolsters the immune system. Incorporated into aromatherapy, it aids in alleviating stress and promoting mental clarity.

Aroma

Turmeric essential oil possesses a warm, spicy, and earthy aroma with subtle notes of ginger and sweet orange. Its smell is very different from that of our kitchen spice. Its scent is both invigorating and grounding, adding depth to various aromatherapy blends. 

It is sweetly flowery and peppery. I would really call it pepper flower: with time, it becomes more flowery and less peppery.

Given its potency, turmeric essential oil should be used with caution. To prevent potential irritation, it is advisable to dilute it with a suitable carrier oil before applying it to the skin. A patch test prior to widespread use is recommended.
