Dear Salaam,
This precious ambrette is such a wonderful ingredient in natural perfumes. In seeking out the rare item, I notice that there are CO2 extraction and Steam Distilled extraction of the oil from the seeds. What is the difference between the oil from the CO2 extraction and the steam distilled oil and which one is better for perfumery? Thanks for your time.

Dear Gina, in our organ we used the Ambrette (Hibiscus Abelmoschus) essential oil. There is also an absolute but I do not use it because maximum power is in the essential oil. The CO2 extract is even less powerful than the absolute.
Your perfumes will be only as good as your ingredients are. The best for ambrette is the essential oil.
I do not like co2 extracts, they do not have life, brightness and longevity,
